What Are The Methods Of Foam Production
1. Polyurethane (PU) sponge foam production
Polyurethane sponge is the most common type of sponge, which is divided into soft foam (such as sofa cushions) and hard foam (such as insulation materials).
2. Production method:
(1) Slabstock Foam
Raw materials: polyol + isocyanate (TDI/MDI) + water (foaming agent) + catalyst + silicone oil (stabilizer).
Process:
The raw materials are mixed and poured into a continuous foaming production line.
The chemical reaction produces CO₂ gas to form foam.
The foam is solidified and cut into the desired shape.
Features: Suitable for mass production, such as mattresses and sofa sponges.
(2) Molded Foam
Process:
The mixture is injected into a mold.
Heat and solidify to form a specific shape (such as car seats, insoles).
Features: Complex shapes can be made and the density is controllable.
(3) High Resilience (HR) Foam
Special polyols are added to improve elasticity and durability, used in high-end furniture and car seats.
3. Summary:
The sponge foam production method can adjust the hardness, elasticity, air permeability and other properties according to demand, and is widely used in daily life and industrial fields.
